A new website is born!
Welcome to BurnabyBees.com!
We are a group of young, enthusiastic urban homesteaders that have dived into the world of small-scale agriculture and are aiming to do our part to keeping the globe green. Recently, we became very intrigued about the plight of the honeybee and how vital bees are to pollination and food production in the world.
After acquiring a swarm of bees last year, we found ourselves hooked on the prospect of helping bees come back against the decimation that they have faced over the past few decades. While nothing is conclusive, it seems that the combination of wide-scale pesticide use, proliferation of mites and extreme weather patterns have taken their toll. So to us, the answer is encourage more bees to thrive and survive.
We currently have two hives on our property, which is just a regular city plot, and we oversee a dozen others.
